Heal The World Mission

"Knowledge is power, but action is everything!
I want to empower individuals by having the knowledge
to make informed decisions that they won't regret."
~Dr. Ahuva Gamliel

Ahuva Gamliel earned a Naturopathic Doctor degree and a Master’s in Acupuncture from Bastyr University, a world renowned school for evidence-based natural medicine. As a licensed Acupuncture Physician/Primary Care Provider with over 20 years experience, she has been featured on Channel 10, Univision Channel 23, and Channel 6, eHOW and on numerous radio and internet interviews as an expert in her field.

Dr Gamliel’s passion and focus is on helping people to heal themselves. Because education and prevention are paramount to achieving this goal, Dr Gamliel has taught holistic medicine courses at Everglades University at both the Boca Raton and Kendall campuses in South Florida as a Professor of Alternative Medicine. She has also been a guest lecturer at Johnson & Wales University and Miami Dade College in North Miami.

Recently her interest has turned towards helping people to increase their feelings of self autonomy and self worth and specifically to empower and prepare youth for unexpected social situations where they can be taken advantage of by unsuspecting individuals in college and beyond.

Dr Gamliel is seeking opportunities to guest lecture at as many high schools, colleges, and universities as possible in effort to prevent people from becoming victims of assault by arming them with vital information, from discerning the red flags of possible perpetrators, to what are the available remedies after the fact.  Her hope and aspiration is that by bringing more mindful awareness to this ongoing physical and mental health crisis, that together we can bring down the alarming statistics of people traumatized by sexual assault.

  • 1 in 5 women have experienced completed or attempted rape during their lifetime.
  • 1 in 71 men report experiencing rape during their lifetime.
Ref: National Sexual Violence Resource Center
These numbers are frightening, especially considering that many victims do not report these types of crimes due to fear, shame, guilt and the fact that many cases involve situations where the victim personally knew the attacker.

This is not a pleasant topic, but if we want our children to live in a safe world, we must talk about it.  It's not comfortable, but it is necessary and this open hearted discussion will help people to understand many of the complex issues surrounding this topic and to prevent unnecessary harm and longterm emotional pain.  As adults, it's our responsibility to protect our children (students / community) and this is how!

I would encourage not only students but also staff, counselors and teachers to attend such a workshop to be able to assist and identify those students in need of support in this matter.

The session with Dr Gamliel would be about 45 minutes of powerpoint presentation (with facts, data, statistics, research, remedies, resources, news and personal stories) followed by 15 minutes of Q & A.

Dr Gamliel is providing her time on a volunteer basis and will accept donations by Zelle to cover travel expenses to drgamliel@gmail.com.

Let's make the world a better, safer and healthier place together.  Our efforts will have a ripple effect as students can teach their siblings what they learned and help them to be prepared in unforeseen situations.

To contact Dr Ahuva Gamliel for a guest lecture, please email her at MibasoHolisticHealth@gmail.com and write GUEST LECTURE in the title of you email.  She can also be reached via phone or text message to (786)537-0771 EST.

5G ElectroMagnetic Radiation Protection for You & Your Family

An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure.
~Benjamin Franklin about preventing fires

Are you concerned about the many possible known and unknown effects that the recently installed 5G towers may have on your health and your family's health?

There are a few things you should know and a few things that you can do about it.

First of all, just because you don't see a 5G cellular tower in your neighborhood, does not mean there is no 5G exposure near you.  These devices are being implanted underground in many neighborhoods so even though you don't see it, it may be there.  A good protection from the 5G radiation is to surround your home or office with trees and plants.  These create a protective shield from harmful invisible rays of radiation.

Second is that you will not automatically receive 5G phone service UNLESS your phone is equipped for it. See your cell phone provider for details.  If you have the latest model cell phone, then it is 5G enabled and you cannot turn it off, but what you can do is downgrade to an older model which has 4G capabilities. It may be slower but it also may be less harmful.

As technology advances, what are the potential health risks of speeding up internet connectivity? The information out there is very controversial and there are conflicting claims on both sides, but it's better to err on the side of safety. I am not here to convince anyone that %G is harmful or safe. What I do know is that radiation exposure is a risk factor for health conditions and I am interested in mitigating risks and exposure to potentially harmful rays and chemicals etc as much as possible.

It is easy enough to put a personal protective device in your pocket, purse or backpack and to put a sticker on a cell phone, laptop or other electronic device, to reduce and limit your exposure to 5G and EMF radiation.

Aires Guardian has three next generation silicon based microprocessors that reduce the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation emitted by electronic devices commonly found at home or in the office. The Guardian can be used to protect frequently used areas against electromagnetic radiation pollution.

Its patented nanotechnology is independently tested by third parties and has a 5 to 26 ft effectiveness radius.

The company was founded in 2012. It has invested over $20,000,000 USD in research and development. The results of the significant research and development investment have been translated into 11 granted patents, 14 patents pending and 18 trademarks pending.

Here are 8 peer reviewed studies that have been done on the products  https://www.airestech.com/documents/peer-reviewed-studies/

They make device, personal and area protective gear and they have family bundles.

Strategies & Support to Stop Stress

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  The best way to deal with stress is not to have it at all.  But that is easier said than done.  Even if we could eliminate stress, it has a way of popping right back up again. Life, work, and relationships can trigger all sorts of emotions, pleasant and not.  Having stress reducing rituals such as prayer and/or meditation, a daily exercise, dance or yoga practice, health promoting nutrition, and supplements, ample hydration, and holistic energy balancing treatments are a solid strategy for coping best with whatever life throws at you!

Stress Management / Prevention
Traditional Chinese acupuncture has stood the test of time and is one of the best-known complementary and alternative therapies. Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and alters the processing and perception of pain signals and also releases natural painkillers, such as endorphins and serotonin in the nervous system. Acupuncture's successful use for various stress conditions has been proven.  Many people develop various health conditions from infertility, addiction, and gastritis to arthritis and many others as a response to physical and/or emotional stress.  Acupuncture has helped to lower stress levels and make people feel calm, cool and collected.  When a person is in a good state of mind, they are less likely to suffer from autoimmune disorders and less likely to get sick.  For these reasons, acupuncture is recommended to be used as a means of disease prevention.  The use of complementary therapies and specifically acupuncture in the treatment of stress and stress-related conditions, helps people to feel an improvement in quality of life, reduces anxiety and insomnia and helps to support an optimistic and focused mindset.

Meditation is a helpful tool to manage stress and stay calm, cool and collected despite external circumstances.  It can be utilized in the morning for prevention (to start your day on the right foot) or in the evening as a decompression and winding down from a busy day.  Or BOTH!

Try Our Guided Meditation for FREE here:
Meditation includes background binaural beats to relax the subconscious mind,  progressive muscle relaxation to release the tension in the body, visualization to guide the mind with imagery, positive affirmations and more!

Seasonal Attunement / Wellness

Even if you don’t consider your stress levels to be high, you can still benefit from having acupuncture!  If you are prone to seasonal allergies or to catching a cold in the Winter (or during weather changes or travel), then you could benefit from acupuncture. Acupuncture helps to stimulate the immune system which is your body’s primary line of defense against allergens or pathogens (such as viruses and bacteria).  By keeping your body strong with proper nutrition, hydration, physical activity, sleep, and acupuncture, you can avoid getting put out of commission the next flu, cold or corona virus season.  With so many advantages, such as improved energy, better quality of sleep, calmness and better concentration, acupuncture is recommended to be part of everyone’s health maintenance plan.

Mibaso Holistic Health has helped people of all backgrounds to achieve their optimal health and wellbeing using Acupuncture and natural medicine since 2006.
Over the last three decades there has been an increasing interest in acupuncture treatment of stress management and disease prevention around the world. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been utilized in China for more than 2,000 years, and it has been practiced in treatment of all health conditions (whether as a primary mode of treatment or as adjunctive care). TCM is effective at improving immune function, improving memory, and protecting against various neurological disorders. Given that TCM is potentially effective in the prevention of disease, it has been suggested that TCM may be the ideal choice in the future for the treatment for prevention and health maintenance.

For best results it is recommended to do acupuncture together with other non-invasive holistic therapies such as exercise, meditation and nutritious eating, which our Doctor of Oriental Medicine can guide you on.  When used in the supportive context as part of a wellness plan, acupuncture is an effective, simple and economical method for achieving optimal health and wellbeing.

Promote Health & Prevent Illness

Are you ready for round 2 of the corona virus, the 2nd wave?
Join Ahuva Gamliel, Acupuncture Physician, as she discusses simple immune system boosters that promote health and wellness and prevent sickness (even despite exposure to covid 19). With these simple tools you can thrive in the face of the virus and go on living your best life!
In Holistic medicine, the prevention and the treatment often involve the same ingredients (in different amounts).  And as they say, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."  This means that it's easier to prevent illness than to treat it once a person already has it.

During these times of uncertainty, it is of utmost importance to manage stress.  Stress can contribute to or trigger a wide range of health and mental health conditions including anxiety and depression and autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.  To prevent becoming overwhelmed and to continue to manage life successfully, it is vital to incorporate methods such as meditation, yoga, prayer, or breathwork to help control the mind and emotions and prevent yourself from potentially spiraling into a preventable condition.

Here is a relaxing meditation with affirmations to help Promote Health & Prevent Illness

Spring Forward into Optimal Health

Spring is the season for renewal
    Mind, Body & Spirit

We hope that you took advantage of the FREE 21 Day Meditation Challenge from Deepak Chopra & Oprah Winfrey that we posted in last month's newsletter.  We really enjoyed it and welcome your feedback!  Here is a 16 minute sample meditation for positive global transformation:

Meditation, like a good self-help book, is a wonderful tool to reflect on one's life and assess areas for improvement.  It gives us an opportunity to pause and introspect.  When we work on healing and understanding ourselves this way, we have a more calm and peaceful life.  When we are centered, we are also better equipped to handle whatever life brings our way.  Other people or events cannot control us because we become less reactive and more accepting.  We realize that we can only change ourselves and we work on manifesting our potential.  If you missed the online challenge, MP3 downloads can be purchased for only 99 cents here.

This month we are will be featured in GROUPON again in an effort to expose our holistic healing center to new people.  If you are already a client or fan, please purchase the package directly from us. We will gladly offer you the same savings:

1 session for $49
3 sessions for $99
5 sessions for $199

*This special will be available for the month of April only with a limit of 1 per person and 3 additional for gifts.  The packages are non-transferable and non-refundable*.  Restrictions apply, see below for details.

Spring is the season that many people suffer from allergies due to the pollens in the air. We recommend a natural anti-histamine called quercitin which comes from onions. The price is $22 for 1 month supply, 60 capsules.

Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that supports cellular health and function. In human cell culture studies, it has been shown to block the manufacture and release of inflammation-causing substances, which can help support a healthy immune response to the seasonally changing environment. It also helps promote a healthy cardiovascular system by preserving endothelial integrity and supporting healthy blood glucose levels for those already within normal range. Optimized Quercetin is a proprietary formulation that sets the “gold standard” for high-quality quercetin derived from a food-source blend.

Here is an educational health awareness video which mentions quercitin in relation to cardiovascular fitness:

Spring is also the ideal time to detoxify the body.  So if you haven't tried our detox kit yet, 'tis the season!

The three homeopathic remedies in the detox kit are specially formulated to cleanse the kidneys, intestines and lymphatic system on a cellular level.  30 drops are taken from each bottle into a large bottle of water which is sipped throughout the day.  Detox'ing is necessary due to our exposure to pesticides, polluted soil, air pollution and other environmental toxins.  It is wise to "Spring clean" your body at least once per year for optimal health and wellbeing.  The detox treatment lasts for 1 month and costs $40.

Dr Gamliel is available to give health talks or lead guided meditations in the community. If you would like her to speak with your group, office, university, children's school, women's gathering, et cetra please call (305)866-1491 to schedule a booking. On-site group and individual treatments may also be available upon request.

Thank you for reading our newsletter & sharing it with your social networks!

Healthy Travels

One of my readers asked me to blog about how to prevent getting sick while traveling and how to deal with Jet Lag.

So here we are...

Many people get sick on trips, especially those involving airplanes due to the lack of fresh air, circulating germs (if you buy into the germ theory of illness), poor sleeping, exhaustion, and suppressed immune function.  So what can we do to prevent that?  Plan ahead!

Before taking a trip, buy some Vitamin C, herbal teas, and natural supplements to take on the trip.  Make sure you have enough to last both going away and coming back home and make sure you pack it in your carry-on!

Start boosting your immune system a day or two before you leave on your trip.  I like the Vitamin C packets that dissolve in water because they absorb well and they taste good!  Winning combo!  And no this is not a paid endorsement!

You can take a couple packets per day.  Since Vitamin C is water-soluble, if you take too much, you just pee it out so there is no concern for over-dosing.  And since it is available in many flavors and varieties you can enjoy different tastes as well as additional health benefits such as supporting your joints as well.

If you know you are prone to sore throats, load up on some immune boosting teas.  These can be purchased at Whole Foods and even local supermarkets in the Health Food Isle.  It is easy to take tea bags in a carry-on and ask for hot water on the plane.  You might also consider taking zinc lozenges or herbal cough drops so you have them just in case.

At the first onset of a cold, the Chinese herbal formula Yin Qiao is recommended to nip the cold in the bud, before it develops into something major.  Airborne is a popular product that has some of the ingredients of yin qiao as well as other immune boosting nutrients.  It also dissolves in water, like an alka- seltzer and helps right away.  Another option is Zicam, a homeopathic remedy which dissolves under the tongue and also has a pleasant taste.  Both of these products are readily available at your local drug store.

Sleep is very important for the immune system.  So while traveling, it is best to try to maintain your sleep schedule like it is at home.  Avoid having the air conditioning on the plane or hotel hitting your face, neck, or shoulders directly, this can contribute to colds, sinusitis, headaches, tight muscles, and even bell's palsy (facial paralysis!).

Another thing is that people often do not exercise when they are on the road, which may also have negative effects on the immune system.  If it is a long flight, get up and walk, stretch, and even do chair exercises to prevent ankle edema (swelling due to water retention and poor circulation).

Being active on your trip, even walking, helps to improve circulation and prevents stagnation or the accumulation of bacteria and viruses in the body.  Sweating is healthy.  A sauna or steam room creates an artificial fever in the body which boosts the immune system.  So if you have access to a gym or sauna in your hotel, use it!  20 minutes a day of walking and a 10 minute sauna can do wonders for you!

If you can, massage and or acupuncture can also be beneficial for you to prevent getting sick on your trip.  If you go for massage, ask for lymphatic drainage which helps the body to clear toxins and if you go for acupuncture tell them you want to boost your immune system.  If you are in South Florida, come to us and we'll treat you right! (okay had to do the plug :-)

In terms of preventing jet lag, melatonin may be helpful to re-establish the circadian rhythm and sleep schedule.  I found the following recommendations by Life Extension Foundation to be on point:

  • Attempt to schedule your arrival for morning or early afternoon, if possible.
  • Attempt to depart fully rested.
  • Expose yourself to (carefully timed) bright daylight.
    • Such light exposure should not commence until two hours before your normal wake time. For example, if you normally rise at 7 a.m., do not expose yourself to light at the destination until the time that corresponds to 5 a.m. at your departure point. Thus on a seven-hour eastward flight, do not expose yourself to light until noon at your destination.
  • Take 0.5 to 5.0 mg melatonin by mouth within three hours of desired bedtime at the destination.
  • Sleep in absolute darkness, to the extent possible.
  • Avoid caffeine after noon.
To beat jet lag on a long-distance eastward trip, consider the following preentrainment procedure. This strategy requires that you take action at least three days before departure. While flights across more than five time zones are of greatest concern, preentrainment may be useful for flights that cross as few as two or three time zones. For two-time-zone flights, begin two days before departure.
  • For each of the three days before departure, set your alarm for one hour earlier than your usual wake time.
  • Immediately on waking each day, expose yourself to bright light.
  • For 3.5 hours after waking each morning, including the morning of your departure, alternate 30 minutes of exposure to bright light with 30 minutes of exposure to ordinary room light.
    • Perform morning chores requiring mobility (e.g., showering, shaving, etc.) during bright-light phases.
    • Tasks such as working on a computer, applying makeup, or gardening outdoors without hat or sunglasses may be completed during bright-light phases, as long as full bright-light exposure is not compromised.
  • Take 0.5 to 3.0 mg supplemental melatonin in late afternoon (3 to 5 hours before desired bedtime).
  • Attempt to retire to bed one hour earlier than usual.
  • Attempt to sleep in absolute darkness.
  • Repeat procedure, again setting wake time another hour earlier than usual, for two more days. By day three you should be waking three hours earlier than usual.
  • Avoid caffeine after noon.

What's Best for Your Breast?

Although mammography is considered the "gold standard" of breast cancer screening in America, women need to know that there are other viable options!  A healthy choice is one that is made based on balanced, unbiased information.

Unfortunately,  literature in doctor's offices which is supposed to educate patients about certain medications and procedures often purposely omits certain vital information which if the patient knew about, might influence their decision negatively about the procedure (such as side-effects, complications, risks, relevant statistics etc).  By leaving this important information out, the patient is directed to respond the way the clinic wants them to.

Today, politics and medicine are so inter-woven that it is often difficult to discern the potential conflicts of interest when it comes to optimal health choices.

In the video below, Dr Mercola does a nice job explaining that thermography is an alternative means of breast cancer detection which, unlike mammography, is not uncomfortable, non-invasive, and does not expose the woman to radiation.  It is paradoxical that radiation can be a contributing factor to breast cancer yet is used to screen for it!  It is as if the breast cancer business is feeding itself more potential patients.  Think about it: if a woman has a genetic predisposition for breast cancer (the BRCA gene) and she is exposed to radiation every year during her mammography exam, how much of a greater risk does she have of developing cancer after 5-10 years of this "preventative" screening?

A study done in Denmark reported that: Screening led to 30% overdiagnosis and overtreatment, or an absolute risk increase of 0.5%. This means that for every 2000 women invited for screening throughout 10 years, one will have her life prolonged and 10 healthy women, who would not have been diagnosed if there had not been screening, will be treated unnecessarily. Furthermore, more than 200 women will experience important psychological distress for many months because of false positive findings. It is thus not clear whether screening does more good than harm. To help ensure that the women are fully informed of both benefits and harms before they decide whether or not to attend screening, there are evidence-based leaflets for lay people available in several languages on www.cochrane.dk.  source:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21249649

The researchers concluded that: Avoiding getting screening mammograms reduces the risk of becoming a breast cancer patient by one-third.  from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22072221 and furthermore that:
Scientific articles tend to emphasize the major benefits of mammography screening over its major harms. This imbalance is related to the authors' affiliation. from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17537243

Additional options are currently being researched.  Please watch this video link below to see how Dr. Deborah Rhodes developed a new tool for tumor detection that is 3 times as effective as traditional mammograms for women with dense breast tissuehttp://www.ted.com/talks/deborah_rhodes.html
