According to a recent article published in the Sun Sentinel,
51% of Floridians are unhappy with their jobs! In an article published on CNN’s website, the top 4 factors
that contribute to their dissatisfaction include:
- few opportunities for advancement,
- company culture,
- being underpaid and
- loathsome managers and coworkers.
Additional factors
why employees were unhappy include
- feeling unimportant and
- they didn’t like their company’s health plans.
These factors contribute to high employee turnover and that costs
the company valuable time and resources in an endless cycle of rehire, retrain,
and repeat. In addition, current labor
market conditions, namely, historic levels of job openings, combined with low
un-employment, appear to be driving an unprecedented job-hopping trend. Many people are so confident that they are even
quitting their jobs prior to finding new ones and they are getting hired within
12 months, the survey said.
Implementing a Corporate Wellness Health Plan can substantially
improve employee job satisfaction by creating a company culture
that is supportive, nurturing and facilitates a sense of importance and
wellbeing among the employees. In
addition, implementing short 20-30 minute holistic stress-reducing services
such as breath-work, meditation, and acupuncture can help employees be calm,
cool, and collected despite upcoming deadlines and other pressures both inside
and outside of work. When the employees
receive regular mind-body-spirit health care, while the external stressful
factors remain the same, the individual is able to respond to them without
irritability, frustration, short temper, and anxiety. Thus the “loathsome coworkers” factor can
virtually be eliminated. The person who
is irritated will no longer be on edge so it will be much harder to irritate
him/her and the person doing the irritation will also be less stressed so they
are less likely to transfer their stress to someone else.
